My mind’s a mess. A lot of ideas and things to say that I can’t seem to express very well. I need to organize my thoughts, and in our era, what better format to do so than in a blog.

The name of this blog came to me very easily. The “homo” part, I think, is pretty self-explanatory. As for “hummus,” I’m a Palestinian, and it’s one of my favorite dishes. So I thought, why not? The alliteration doesn’t hurt, either.

On the off chance that someone, somewhere, happens upon this sleepy backwater of the Internet and decides to take the time to read what I have to say, s/he will find that I’m going to focus on politics, specifically a lot of Middle East and human rights issues, but I’ll also comment on cultural topics, especially language, which is a personal passion of mine.

That’s very vague, isn’t it? But I seriously have no plans. Like I said, this is mostly so I can organize my own thoughts. I’m going to be taking things as they come: at this point, I have no idea how often I’ll be posting or how much.

Nevertheless, Homo Hummus has arrived on the Intertubes.  To the people who stumble upon it, enjoy!
